Exclusive: President Donald Trump's executive order against paper straws, signed in February, has already begun to cut them down “using all available levers.”
Fox News Digital has exclusively obtained a report from the National Policy Council outlining the White House wants the Food and Drug Administration to investigate the PFAS risk of paper straws and “consider its use.” It is also to have a US to stay away from using straws in federal cafeterias, stop buying them in federal contracts at various agencies. “The Trump administration will revoke this weaponization of the government, use all available levers to regain common sense, end the use of paper straws and restore functional tools for the American people,” the report concludes, claiming that the research not only does not back up the widespread use of paper straws, but could pose a safety risk to people with disabilities.”

Blue states such as California and New York currently have laws restricting the use of detached-house plastic straws in full-service restaurants unless customers request them.

Democracies are also promoting the use of paper straws as a greener alternative. Trump has criticized them for years, writing in a 2019 social media post that “liberal paper straws don't work.”
