The Israelis continue to be in conflict that began in the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023, with dozens of hostages still being held in Gaza captivity.
Passover Holiday celebrates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery and their escape to freedom. The festival will last seven days starting on Saturday night (8 days outside Israel, according to tradition).
Israel reached its final position at this Passover as it destroyed much of Hamas, destroyed Hezbollah and ruled out Iran for most of its air defenses. Hostages were also released through both negotiation and power.
However, the fact that over 50 hostages remain in Gaza, 20 of them are thought to be alive makes Israelis and Jews equally heavy in the world.
Israeli leaders offered Passover greetings specifically addressing the issue of hostages and the need to remain resilient in the face of ongoing war. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement:
Above Cedar At night, we all come together with our loved ones, and we all tell the stories of people who have gone free from slavery.
However, on this holiday for many families, there are empty chairs. Our beloved hostage chair is still hugged by Hamas.
But from this emptiness, the clear voice of the fallen hero wrote to his family, like El Cana Viesel's final message, like a blessed memory. Sing and support each other as we are the generation of red.
Certainly, we are the generation of redemption and the generation of victory.
We'll bring back the hostages together. Together we will defeat the enemies. Together we accept the injured and together we bow our heads to commemorate our fall.
On October 7th, there were people who believed they were owned by the sea in the face of enemy forces. But not only did we not own, we rose as one and broke the axis of evil with our strong hands and extended arms.
The whole world looks strange to our ancient people.
In every generation they are against us – and the GD and our fighter spirit save us from them.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he was addressing surveillance forces from the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).
There is something very deep in the concept of freedom. It is something that deeply immerses us in our people. When we talk about freedom, it means that we want to see our brothers and sisters at home completely free, and in order to achieve that, we need to do everything we can, act in every way, and of course, face every challenge.
…[Quoting the Haggadah read on Seder night, the President noted,] “In all generations, a person must see himself as if he had personally emerged from Egypt.” Does that have the meaning of that experience?
The deep importance of people wearing IDF olive green uniforms – you chose to wear uniforms, even as a young generation like you, a young person who can be anywhere in the world. It has immeasurable meaning. It represents the true essence of the IDF as a national defense force. It allows us to live safely, win this war and bring hostages home.
I want to be grateful from the bottom of my heart. Go out and succeed. I am deeply proud of you. Through you, I wish all IDF soldiers a Passover of freedom and happiness. Please hear the good news from all of Israel.
With the weekend's holiday ahead of the Jewish Sabbath, many Israelis are also hoping and fearing for new talks with Iran on Saturday over a nuclear deal under Oman's patronage.
Many Israelis feel that dealing with Iran will simply delay Iran's nuclear weapons development, rather than stopping it. But most choose to avoid further wars. If Iran could be persuaded to stop using terrorist proxies to attack Israel.
Passover tradition includes cedars. Iconic food is eaten and texts are read to commemorate the escape. eat Mazzaor pointless bread. And spend time with friends and family in a celebratory setting.
