Augusta National announces prize money increase for 2025 Masters

Augusta, Ga. — Augusta National Golf Club has announced that Scotty Schaeffler has won his second green jacket with the total prize money for the experts competing in the 2025 Masters Tournament at $21 million, with last year's $1 million.

Those who win this year's Masters Tournament will receive a $4.2 million, a green jacket and a replica of the Clubhouse Trophy. The club will award $2.268 billion to the second-place finisher.

Based on last year's majors, the Masters were ranked only behind the US Open in total prize money. Pinehurst No. 2's 124th US Open was a $21.5 million wallet, while the PGA Championship at Valhalla was $18.5 million. The R&A, which promoted the Open Championship at Royal Toon, has announced a wallet size of $17 million compared to the final major of the season.

The breakdown of the total prize money for the 2025 Masters Tournament is as follows:

Augusta National also said the remaining experts on the field will receive cash prizes ranging from $51,660, slightly less than that, depending on the final score. A total of 53 players created 36 cuts with 2 over pars.

95 players launched the tournament Thursday morning, with 42 players unsuccessfully creating the weekend, including Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, Tony Finau, Adam Scott, Cep Straka, Billy Horchelson, Phil Mickelson, Nikolai Whaegard, Will Zarator and Nick Dunlap.

Former Masters winner pair Bernhard Langer and Fred Couples barely missed the cut as they were an astonishing achievement to make the weekend.

Anyone who missed a cut at this year's Masters received $25,000 from the club.
