NTSB finds tour helicopter that crashed into Hudson River did not have flight recorders

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced a Bell 206 L-4 Tour helicopter that plunged into the Hudson River on Thursday, unequipped with all the equipment that all six of them boarded.

A family pilot and five members visit from Spain, including Siemens executive Agustin Escobar. His wife, Merceè Camprubí Montal. And their three young children were asserted to have been drawn out of the water by divers and died.

As of Saturday night, no onboard video or camera recorders had been retrieved, and no helicopter avionics recording information could be used for investigation.

NTSB investigators began to evaluate the helicopter flight control system, with drivers discovering the cockpit and cabin, the front part of the tail boom, horizontal stabilizer finlets and vertical fins.

According to the agency, some of the recovered parts will be sent to the NTSB Institute in Washington for thorough inspection.

Divers at the New York City Police Department (NYPD) continue to search for most of the helicopter main rotors, main gearboxes, tail rotors and tail booms.

Side-scan sonars are used to identify potential locations of wreckage, and recovery work will continue on Sunday.

Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates small plane crashes and pilots are dead

NTSB investigators met with representatives from the New York Helicopter Charter, a helicopter operator, to review operational records, policies, procedures, safety management systems and pilot experience.

Investigators also looked into two exemplary helicopters, according to the statement.

According to the NTSB, the helicopter involved in the collision had its last major test on March 1st.

Officials say the helicopter had completed seven tour flights prior to the crash. The wreck occurred during the eighth flight of the day.

Parties to the investigation include the Federal Aviation Administration, Bell Helicopters and Rolls-Royce, according to the NTSB.
