On Fox News Channel's “Fox & Friends” broadcast on Friday, US trade representative Jamieson Greer said that while the US is relying too much on China, “Many of the big companies dealing in hardware and appliances will be producing for the past few years, in Vietnam, India, Mexico, Korea, Korea, Korea, and production, American companies.”
Co-host Brian Kilmeade said, [relevant exchange begins around 2:30] “[W]I get 73% of e-smartphones, 78% of laptops, 87% of video game consoles and 77% of Chinese toys. If these numbers are correct, the market will be hit badly by these tariffs. ”
“So I understand that we import a lot from China. And, in reality, for me, we emphasize the urgency of the situation. We rely on this. Many of the big companies dealing in hardware and appliances have diversified over the past few years to Vietnam, Vietnam, India, Mexico, Korea, other Korea, Korea, and Korea, and we can help American consumers and American businesses.”
Greer added that China had many tariffs during Trump's first term, adding that inflation had declined.
He further stated, “There's a bipartisan approach of the past, where at this point we need to diversify from China for almost eight years and be able to source from other countries.”
