Illegal crossings at US-Canada border drop — but enforcement shrinks: ‘Opportunity for terrorists’

US officials have plead for help at the Canadian border, claiming “the most dangerous people are coming,” claiming a barely checked intersection.

The number of illegal entries from the north border, which has often been overlooked since Trump's election in November, has plummeted, but that profit has largely stagnated in recent months as customs and border patrols have fully paid attention to Mexico.

“They had to move their talent to the southwest border, which opened up even greater opportunities for terrorists to pass through our northern border,” said Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), co-chairing the Northern Border Patrol Caucus.

“The numbers aren't as big as the southern border. I get it, but the most dangerous people are passing through the northern border.”

The Great White North to the US crossing has fallen by 66% from 12,085 people arrested in November from 4,098 people captured in February to the latest available data, 4,098 people. From CBP It was shown.

The number of people reaching the border with Canada has been reduced as CBP relocated border patrol agents and resources to the southern border.

The February figures reflect a significant drop (78%) from the 18,944 peak that illegally entered the US in August.

This is in stark contrast to the US border, which saw a spectacular decline of over 90% at illegal intersections, from the peak of 301,981 in December 2023 to 11,709 in February.

The northern border is the world's largest land border, spanning more than 5,500 miles of wilderness and almost unprotected territory outside of the official crossing point.

However, it lacked the attention that the US-Mexican border was routinely obtained until it became the subject of a brewing trade war between its northern neighbours.

“That boundary is very easy to access and very easy to pass through. It's all you need to do is go from one grass to the next,” Kelly said. “I just stepped through the line to get to the US.”

“The diverse terrain and unpredictable climate at the vast borders of Canada and the US can certainly pose challenges on both sides,” Royal Canadian Police told the Post.

RCMP said it has relocated its members to areas that have brought in additional resources in recent months, including executives, drones and Black Hawk helicopters, and attracted illegal intersections.
