Autopsies for Mass Shooters to Search for Psychiatric Drug Links

The law passed in Tennessee on April 10, 2025 requires a mass shooter autopsy to identify links to psychotic drugs.

wbir It’s attracting attention That HB 1349 was passed at the Tennessee home with a 76-20 vote. The companion bill, SB 1146, was passed by the Tennessee Senate with a 27-5 vote.

Autopsy required by law will be conducted “at one of the five regional forensic centers in Tennessee.” And when the examiner tested the body of a drug-rich shooter, the results were “[shared]…University and Department of Health, Science Center Pharmacy, University and Department of Health. ”

A report from the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, released earlier this month, highlights the mental state of a 28-year-old transgender woman who shot and killed six people at Nashville Christian School in March 2023. The report said“despite the ongoing treatment and drug therapy, [the transgender woman’s] Anxiety, depression, and anger only escalated. She commented on how she felt engulfed by despair and recorded how her various mental health conditions affect her mind by creating drawings. ”

HB 1349 and SB 1146 are designed to use autopsy results to find commonalities between the Christian School Shooters from the Volunteer State and the other mass shooters are being collected.
