Karmelo Anthony granted house arrest as judge reduces his bond from $1 million to $250,000

Karmelo Anthony – The 17-year-old, who murdered Texas High School star athlete Austin Metcalf, 17, reduced his bond to $250,000 as judge on Monday in connection with an April 2 stab wound at a Frisco truck competition.

The Bond Reduction Hearing begins at 9am, with Anthony being handcuffed and chained while wearing a golden jumpsuit. KDFW-TV reported.

“For unknown reasons, the defendant brought a knife to the truck competition. Perhaps the worst case scenario was a fist fight.”

Anthony’s lawyer asked the judge to cut the bond to $150,000, Station added that defense attorney Mike Howard “doesn’t need a million dollars given that Carmelo has no past criminal history… given that this young man has no issues of any kind.”

“This family needs to survive. There was a lot of pressure. I think at this point I’m living in the gated community,” Howard said.

Howard also suggested placing Carmelo on an ankle monitor and impose house arrest to “give this young man the opportunity to get out of prison and be with his family.” Anthony was in Colin County Jail from a fatal stab wound.

Prosecutors reported Anthony was in a “interrogation” at school on February 4th, with no law enforcement involved, KDFW reported, adding that GivesEndgo’s fundraising page, which exceeded $250,000 earlier this week, was also nurtured. As of Monday afternoon, Funding took $415,000.

“For unknown reasons, the defendant brought a knife to a truck competition, and perhaps the worst case scenario was a fist fight,” said Bill Wilski, Collin County’s first assistant. [The family] As soon as they have access to it, they can make this million dollar bond. I don’t know why we are here. ”

Anthony’s mother and father both testified at bond hearings, Station reported, saying that much of the money would need to go to his son’s legal defense.

Anthony’s father added that the family has no access to the money they’ve collected. WFAA-TV reportedadded that his father said he was the sole provider of his family, and the infamous name in the case forces his family to move into a new home. The cost of travel and the costs provided to the father and four children would not allow families to pay $1 million in bonds, according to the WFAA.

The judge has reduced Anthony’s bond to $250,000, KDFW reported, adding that he has been placed on house arrest and must tell the enforcement officer every Friday morning, not permitted on social media.

Judge Angela Tucker, 199th Judicial District Court, said he learned about the assignment last Monday, saying the case was randomly allocated, adding that Tucker will only be on bond reduction hearings. KDFW said another judge would be randomly selected to govern the trial.

Tucker said they had never had the security issues faced in the case, and KDFW said the bond was intended to ensure that defendants return to court to ensure the community is safe.

According to KDFW, Tucker doesn’t take that lightly at the bond hearing either.” “I take them very seriously.”

She pointed out, “There is no substitute for the loss of life or the loss of children. I don’t think the amount of bonds is related to the dignity of the loss to a family. You cannot return that person.”
