Maher compares ‘woke’ Dems to ‘cult followers’ refusing to ditch bad policy

Liberal talk show host Bill Maher warned that if Democrats continue to alienate voters with left and right cultural policies, they could render them politically irrelevant.

Five months after historic defeat in the 2024 presidential election, Democrats are struggling to identify new paths. While some Democrats see the election as a referendum on the politics and movement of left-handed identity, which would “pay the police,” others have doubled that idea. Maher, a liberal who often criticizes so-called “awakening” politics, spoke on Sunday about the crisis of this identity for the party.

When asked about what Democrats would like to see them do in the future, Maher suggested, “a lot more centralism, much more – get rid of the awakened baggage.”

Maher describes himself as an old-school liberal, distinguishing between people who “put race in front of everything” and those who describe him as liberals who seek people who “wake up” and people who “wake up.”

The talk show hosts rejected the more radical elements and denounced the Democrats for repeatedly failing to regain the American people.

“They have a lot of opportunities to make this a ‘sister Soulja’ — and the Americans say, ‘Oh, what do you know? Is it a good thing? Because Trump is really starting to make me nervous,” Maher said.

He went on to lament that the “big problem” for Democrats is that the exact same culturally radical changes they disregard are in fact related to voters. Maher appeared to be making specific references to how some schools would socially transition children on campus to different genders without informing their parents.

“The Democrats have this view, ‘Well, these aren’t real issues,'” Maher said. “Well, for a lot of people who think they should be able to have a say on school in their children’s lives, like people with children in schools and things.
