Jose Siri has fractured tibia in major Mets injury blow

MINNEAPOLIS — The Mets have one center field option for an expanded stretch after testing revealed he had a fracture of his left tibia on Monday.

Siri went through an MRI test and a CT scan on the SIN as his first X-ray was negative on Saturday.

Ciri stained the ball from his shins and forced him to leave Saturday’s game. He has been on crutches ever since, as he couldn’t put weight on his legs.

“I didn’t think it was too serious to get a fracture,” Ciri said through an interpreter after a 5-1 victory over the twins on the target field.

Siri said he has not received a schedule for recovery.

Mendoza said the Mets had not made a decision on how to fill Ciri’s roster.

Siri arrived in offseason trade with the Rays, bringing Gold Globe Caliber defense to position along with the speed of the base. Offensively, Siri has struggled for most of his career. He had a 0.050/.208/.100 start this season with 24 plate appearances.

“We feel good about what’s here,” Mendoza said. “Tyrone Taylor will have many opportunities, we’ll prepare [Jesse] Turn signal gets more [Starling] Marte. We are pleased with the depth of the outfield. It’s a shame for Siri, but we like what we have here. ”
