Newsom Signs Law to Spend 15 Times More on Medi-Cal, Including Illegal Aliens, than on Fire Prevention

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (d) has signed a law that spends $181 million on fire prevention in the state. Medicaid provider Medi-Cal’s $2.8 billion has swelled thanks to his decision to cover illegal aliens.

San Jose Mercury News It has been reported Regarding the bill opposed by Republicans – despite fire prevention provisions including burns, for large spending on Medi-Cal:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a new law that allocates $180 million to wildfire prevention projects, including statewide burns and vegetation management.

[T]His Republican members stubbornly opposed the provisions of the bill that would send another $2.8 billion from the state’s general fund to cover the increased costs associated with Medi-Cal, the state’s health insurance provider for low-income and disabled people.

What are some of these unexpected costs? More and more immigrants who enter the country without permission are registered with Medi-Cal. Newsom’s management official told Calmatters in March.

As reported by Breitbart News, California had to borrow more than $6 billion last month to cover the Medi-Cal shortage. State Sen. Carl DeMaio (R-San Diego) said Medi-Call was effectively “insolvent” as a result of Newsom’s decision to expand free health care to illegal aliens that came into effect last January.
