When investigators asked about the human body, the other shopkeeper told police that she was unaware that it was illegal, according to the arrest affidavit.
“She said that the store had fragments of all human bones, all purchased from private sellers, and that although there were documents for these transactions, they were unable to provide it at that moment,” the arrest affidavit stated. “She described the bones as genuine human remains and delicate in nature.”
Shopper reportedly told police that bones were a “educational model,” which would make selling human bodies legal.
Police seized the human remains and submitted for analysis by inspectors and experts.
