ICE blasts Prince Georges County in Maryland after alleged murderer released

U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) scuffed Maryland Sanctuary County after illegal immigrants accused of murder were released from local custody despite the holder’s request.

Ice arrested 32-year-old Rene Pop-Chub, a Guatemalan national in Hyattville, Maryland, Saturday.

According to Ice, who said Pop-Chub is facing murder, second assault and reckless danger charges, he was unable to respect ICE immigrant detainees on Pop-Chub.

“When jurisdictions refuse to honor our immigrant detainees, they put their communities at risk. Like here, dangerous, illegal aliens charged with murder and assault have been brought back to the streets,” Nikita Baker, representative Ice Baltimore field office director, said in writing.

“Thanks to the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts of our officers, this individual has been detained,” Baker continued. “Their work ensures that he is now facing justice and does not pose a threat to Maryland’s public safety.”

Pop-Chub was deported to Guatemala in 2023 and 2017 after he illegally entered the United States, Ice said. It is unknown when and where Poptube illegally re-entered the country for the third time.

Authorities caught up with Poptube on August 19, 2024, and Prince George County Police Department arrested him and charged him with a first-degree attack.

Ice Baltimore filed an immigrant detainee on October 9, 2024 (PGCDC), and later that month, Prince George County District Court forwarded the Pop-Chub case to Circuit Court to Prince George’s case on charges of murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless danger.

However, the PGCDC refused to honor Ice’s immigrant detainees and released Pop-Chub from custody on April 8, Ice said.
