Long Island girl, 9, suffers extensive injuries after being mauled by neighbor’s pitbull: ‘He could’ve killed me’

The 9-year-old Long Island girl suffered a horrific injury when she was severely attacked by her neighbor, Pitbull, leaving behind partially isolated ears and hundreds of staple foods.

Bayshore’s Daniela Schrouch is lucky to be able to survive following the horrific Saturday attack.

“If no one was there he could have killed me.” I told CBS New York.

Daniela came out of her car outside her house and the dog charged at her as she bit her face.

Her father, Pat Schrouch, did her best to protect her.

“I didn’t have time to think about it, but I knew I had to save my daughter’s life,” he said. News12 spoke to Long Island. “The dog just jumped on her. I came out of the house. I just jumped onto his back and bowed my head because he couldn’t swing.”

He said the dog owner came and called the dog from Daniela.

The fourth graders had concussions, hundreds of stitches, staples and wounds on their heads, hands and feet.

According to CBS, some of her ears had to be reattached.

“It’s going to pull me down to the ground and not let me go,” Daniela said. “He was really shaking my head here, so he let go for a moment and started it here on my head.”

Her dad added to News12:

The girl will have to visit the plastic surgeon in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Schrouch’s family hopes that the dog, which has been kept in Islip for 10 days, has been removed forever. Schrouch said the dog owners don’t have a fence around their property. They were also summoned for not having an animal license.

“I hope to bring the dog out of the house because the dog is not yet restrained and can run away and attack someone else, so I’m afraid to go outside the house,” said Teresa Schrouch, Daniela’s mother.

The girl’s brother George said the Pitbull had escaped from the back door of his neighbor.

The family submitted an application for a dangerous dog – a case heard by a judge within five days. The judge may order the dog to be retrained, removed, or euthanized.

“The dog that attacked my sister means she has more rights than she is now,” George said, referring to the puppy’s waiting period.

He added that neighbor’s pets are “known to be known to easily open the back door latch and escape.”

CBS New York could not contact the owner for comment.
