Arizona Tuscon axe attack leaves Jacob Couch in critical condition nearly decapitated by Daniel Michael

His family fears that he will not survive the injury after doctors diagnose him with an anoxic brain injury that occurred when his brain was deprived of oxygen for a long time.

“He’s not expected to make it now,” Couch’s younger brother Luke said outside the hospital a few days after the attack. “We’re just taking the way we can.”

The couple, who had been married for 11 years, lived in Los Angeles for nearly a year after their son’s death in May 2024.

“We weren’t able to get together like we needed our family, so we were back home,” Kristen said.
