Sen. Chiss Van Hollen (D-MD) on CNN’s “News Central” on Tuesday claimed that President Donald Trump “believes in his own First Amendment rights, but clearly for others.”
Van Hollen said, “I commend Harvard’s decision not to succumb to bullying from the Trump administration. I know Donald Trump believes in his own right to the First Amendment, but clearly for everyone else. The departmental memo has admitted that there is absolutely no basis for claiming that she is engaged in anti-Semitic activities.”
He said, “What you see is that the Trump administration is doing is trying to use this argument that these students are violating American foreign policy, they are engaged in these, you know, you know, you know, in many cases what they are doing, when you are protesting the actions of the US government and Netanyahu government. I’m happy to be standing here because the Trump administration is trying to do.”
