Piers Morgan slams Taylor Lorenz for ‘fangirling’ Luigi Mangione

Piers Morgan unleashed fierce criticism of journalist Taylor Lorenz in an episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Monday, and denounced her remarks in a recent CNN documentary, where she attacked the suspect with the murder of a health insurance executive.

“Because, as I pointed out in X, the guy is a cold-blooded murderer of effencing.

The host accused Lorenz of “fangirl” and “accusations” over Mangion, a 26-year-old Ivy League alumnus who was accused of assassinating United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel in early December.

“The father of two, executives, and despite the current debate about the healthcare situation, we will execute someone who is not worthy of anything other than the public opposition Brium and be despised for what he has done,” Morgan added.

The controversy comes from Lorenz’s comments in “American Extremes,” a documentary hosted by CNN correspondent Donnie O’Sullivan.

In the film, Lorenz described Mangion in romantic terms, saying that it makes sense that some women were drawn to “a revolutionary, famous, handsome, young, clever person” and “looking like this morally good man.”

Her comments sparked an immediate backlash, especially from Morgan, who denounced Lorenz and the CNN production of the charming murderer.

Lorentz defended herself, claiming that her statements were “fully taken out of context,” underscoring her point that American culture has a long history of liophoreizing criminals.

She cited Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer and Gypsy Rose Blanchard as examples.

Lorenz added that she is referring to the number of women she is increasing. She said these women often attended outfits tailored to his court appearances and expressed support both in person and online.

Many of these women gather in the social media community where they romanticize Mangione as an innovative figure, sharing fan art, letters and tributes.

According to Lorenz, Mangion’s female admirers are taking part in a “rude awakening” when they realize that their heroes are unable to “respond to their fantasies.”

“I think when he opens his mouth and starts talking about his beliefs, he may realize that, as we thought, he is not as moral as a person,” she said.

However, Morgan was not satisfied with her description and claimed that the documentary lacked the gravity that such a crime was required.

He keenly criticized both Lorenz and O’Sullivan for what he saw as “lightful” and “frivolous” tones throughout the segment.

“I didn’t like the overall tone of it,” Morgan said.

“Donnie responded to you at one stage: “Yeah, I realized that a woman literally dates an assassin before swiping over me. That’s where we are. And you both laughed.

He compared the media portrayal of Mangion to reports from the Tsarnaev brothers, who are responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing.

“What was their reward? Rather than everyone hates these people, they’re going to be on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine,” Morgan said.

“No! They are the terrorists who bombed innocent people in the marathon.”

Morgan draws a line directly at Mangione, saying, “He’s not a handsome, charismatic freedom fighter hero. He’s a nasty person who plots and executes the cold-blooded executions of the father of two children. That’s him.”

Throughout this segment, Morgan saw Lorenz not calling for a nasty national attraction to violent criminals, saying, “You can call it your favorite tone police, but where was the blame for this hero’s worship?”

Attorney General Pam Bondy said the Trump administration plans to seek the death penalty against Mangion, and plans to describe the attack as a calculated, brutal assassination.

Lorenz is unfamiliar with the controversy. She drew sharp criticism last week after admitting that President Joe Biden had passed away from a social media post that suggested that he had “get her hope.”

Known for his candid views on progressive causes, Lorenz has been speaking out in Biden’s disapproval, particularly in his support for Israel amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Over the weekend, one user reflected similar sentiment by posting a black and white image of Biden along with the caption.

In 2022, she faced backlash after revealing the identity of Chaya Raichik, the creator of the controversial Libs of Tiktok account, leading to Doxxing’s accusations.

Last year, she left the Washington Post following an internal investigation into the Social Media Post and called Biden a “war criminal.”
