Exclusive — Greek Orthodox Archbishop: Trump’s Win ‘Positive Development’

ATHENS, Greece – Aieronymus II of Athens, the archbishop of the Greek Church, told Breitbart News that President Donald Trump won the election last year and that he considers Trump to be a force for the good of the world.

Ieronymos II spoke through a translator in a rare interview last week when she sat at Breitbart News in her Athens office. He said Trump’s vision on economic and cultural issues is a good vision, but he warned that Trump should be careful not to get caught up in war. Powerful words from the leading religious leaders who oversee the Greek Orthodox Church in Athens come in the middle of Holy Week.

This year is also a rare year when Easter Sunday falls on the same day, both Catholic and Orthodox churches.

“President Trump’s election was a positive development,” the archbishop said. “I want to tell him that there is a need for change, such as the reforms he is trying to implement, but we need to understand that we can do. When relations with China change with changing economic dynamics, for example, it can lead to opposite effects and escalations and wars. Europe is prepared for such a negative scenario. Generation.”

Matthew Boyle, director of the Washington, of the Breitbart News Network, sat alongside the Archbishop of Athens and the leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, seeking exclusive and extensive interviews in the Greek capital.

The Greek church, part of the wider Eastern Orthodox Church or Greek Orthodox Church, is a large organization. Ieronymos II oversees more than 100 bishops and more than 8,500 priests. It is estimated that over 15 million churches are estimated through Greek diasporas around Greece and around the world, and is an important part of the wider international Eastern Orthodox network, including much of Eastern Europe and the vast population of the Middle East. Around the world, there are estimated hundreds of millions of members of Orthodox Churches. It is the second largest Christian communion in the world after the Catholic Church.

Ieronymos II also said Trump is leading the world out of radical insanity when it comes to cultural issues, such as the transgender insanity that the US is currently witnessing.

“In Greece, same-sex marriage is not accepted by the majority of society,” Ieronymos II said. “We believe in human freedom, but that doesn’t mean extreme actions, demonstrations or activities that primarily induce people. We cannot force politicians to vote for something that disagrees fundamentally. All this has made it clear that Trump’s victory came, and that the president repeated the genders of the two, and that EU leaders did the same.”

Overall, Ieronymos II not only praised President Trump, but also urged the President to pay attention as the fundamental left could potentially take power if things were backed up.

“In many ways, I praise him and believe he is benefiting the world,” the Archbishop continued. “But he needs to show a bit of restraint at times. People fear that if things don’t go well, we may return to tough times. President Trump needs to recognize the needs of the average person and he needs to play this role. We need to make a lot of changes, but I believe he can contribute in stages.

Trump, who survived two assassination attempts last year, has been debating in recent months how he has come to God since.

“To be honest, it changed something in me,” Trump said earlier this year at a national prayer breakfast. “I feel even stronger. I believed in God, but I feel even stronger about it. Something happened.”

Aionimus II, the Archbishop of Athens and leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, will give a speech at the inauguration of the new wings of the US Embassy in Athens on February 21, 2023.

Ieronymos II also told Breitbart News that they are seeing a huge surge in Greek youth becoming interested in the faith and active in the church. He said he and other Orthodox church leaders are having a positive discussion about how to read the movement. As the 2023 Wall Street Journal reported on a massive surge in faith among young people returning to the US, it is a global phenomenon endemic to Greece.

“It is true that we ourselves are wondering whether this phenomenon we are seeing is really increasing or just a trend of passing,” the archbishop told Breitbart News. “Greeks have been going through difficult times recently, and many have turned into different kinds of searches. And the truth is, there is a lot of responsibility for political parties and ideologies. You can see clearly for young people, especially young people after they finish elementary school. They want a new kind of world. Working with young people is seeing something broader than what we did. Do you understand everything they are going through? If you can’t accept their concerns, or ignore them, I will distance myself from them. This means you have to adapt to create a true collaboration.”
