The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLW) is responding to an active shooter incident Thursday at the Florida State University (FSU) campus in Tallahassee, according to a statement. Police reportedly detained the suspect.

“Please continue to evacuate. The police have responded to a call to an active shooter at the Student Union. For more information, please leave a warning,” FSU said in a social media post. “All class and university events, including track and field events scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2025, have been cancelled. Individuals who are not currently on the main campus should avoid coming to Tallahassee’s main campus.”

“Be prepared to stay away from all doors and windows and take additional protection measures,” the school’s warning said, The Associated Press. It has been reported.
A hospital near the campus is treating people affected by the incident, said Sarah Cannon, a spokesman for Tallahassee Memorial Medical. She was unable to confirm the number of people caring for them to the AP. She said the incident was ongoing.
