For the first time since April 2004, the Toronto Maple Leafs will meet Senators of Ottawa in the NHL playoffs.
That Ontario-based fight ended with the Leafs winning in seven games. This time, after completing the 2024-25 season at the top of the competitive Atlantic division for the first time in franchise history*, the Oston Matthews Club is once again favoured*.
Brady Tkachuk and Senator will come as wild cards in this matchup. They wrapped the year in a 44-30-7 record and finished fourth in the Atlantic division behind the Leafs, Lightning and Panther.
But as we all know, anything can happen in the postseason, especially in the Maple Leafs.
“They were heavy favorites before, but when they blow the Canadiens a 3-1 lead in 2021, the series didn’t end well for them.” Athletic I wrote about the breakdown of the series. “For the Leafs, the odds aren’t important because they are fighting themselves as much as they are fighting the senators, and this is Toronto’s first test.
If Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander want to be there to face Tkachuk, Tim Stigul and Drake Bannerson, tickets are available for all seven first-round playoff games at this point.
At the time of publication, the lowest price for tickets for the Maple Leafs Home Game at Scottia Bank Arena was $180 USD before the vibrant seating fee.
Prices start at USD 181 before the fee for the match at Senator Canada Tire Centre.
“It’s going to be a bloodshot,” said Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Straltz. “It’s going to be war, so we’re ready.”
