Convicted murderer with federal death sentence Commuting by President Joe Biden He could still face execution after being charged at the state level earlier this week.
On April 14, the large ju judge in the Parish of Catahula, Louisiana, indicted Thomas Sanders for the brutal murder of 12-year-old Lexis Kei Roberts 10 and a half years ago.
Knowing that Sanders has already committed a crime is so vicious that it can be obtained.
On Labor Day weekend in 2010, Sanders and his 31-year-old girlfriend, Slenn Roberts, decided to leave Las Vegas, Nevada for a three-day holiday near the Grand Canyon. Roberts brought his daughter Lexis with them.
When the trio returned to Nevada, Sanders suddenly stopped along the I-40 in a remote Arizona area. He then shot and killed Suelen Roberts, luring Lexis.
As Lexis was in the car, Sanders hit the road and traveled over 1,000 miles for a few days before reaching the forests of the Catahula Parish. There he shot Lexis four times, cutting through his throat with enough force to leave a mark in her vertebrae. DOJ Statement I said.
He left her body in the woods, fleeing the scene, prompting a nationwide manhunt that lasted for a month. Finally, in November 2010, he was found and arrested at a truck stop in Gulfport, Mississippi. He later made a recorded confession that he had killed both his mother and daughter.
In September 2014, four years after the incident, federal ju judges committed one count of Sanders’s crime of 1 count of lure, causing death, and one count of using a firearm during one violent crime. Within a few days, the ju judge was sentenced to death.
‘Mr. Biden commutes Sanders’ federal death sentence, which was charged with life in prison, and chooses to save the life of the child murders convicted of the victim, Lexis Kay Roberts.
Ten years later, Biden included Sanders among the 37 federal death row inmates who were able to get to prison without the possibility of parole. The last minute alignment was signed on December 23, 2024 and announced on Christmas Day.
President Donald Trump was then in a cheerful mood when he received the news.
“Thirty-seven most violent criminals have killed, raped and looted anyone before them, but were given the incredibly sleepy Joe Biden pardon,” he posted to The Truth Society. “I refuse to wish those lucky ‘souls’ Merry Christmas, but instead say I’ll go to hell! ”
Frustrated by the Biden administration blocking the ju judge’s decision in the Sanders case, Katahula Parish District Attorney Bradley Burgett says he will pursue the death penalty as a state-level large ju judge has indicted Sanders. First-degree murder Lexis Roberts’s.
“In 2010, the state postponed the prosecution to federal authorities. The federal authorities prosecute and achieved Lexis’ justice,” Burgett said in a statement.
“Even so, Biden commutes to the federal death sentence that was sacrificed to life in prison and saves the lives of the convicted child murderers of victim Lexis Kay Roberts.”
Louisiana is one of only a handful of states where death row inmates run electrocuted. We also recently added nitrogen hypoxia as another method of implementation.
Louisiana had suspended all executions for 15 years, but in February Gov. Jeff Landry (R) announced that his state would start carrying out the death penalty again. On March 18th, the state died Jesse Hoffman Jr.She raped and murdered 28-year-old Mary “Molly” Elliott on Thanksgiving Day in 1996. Hoffman was 18 years old at the time.
