The bus with the words “call Jesus” was already in flames when additional explosions flew through the fragments and caused damage to nearby cars and businesses.
“I felt that,” a man hears in a witness video shot loudly Wednesday in Shreveport, Louisiana. The bus appears to have been parked outside the location of Frecenius Kidney Care, according to the sign next door.
The Shreveport Fire Department said in a media release that the fire is linked to the city’s public transport system, Sportran Bus.
The crew discovered that “the bus was actively burning, and flames were erupting from one of the vehicle’s compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel tanks.”
Both police and firefighters quickly established a safety perimeter to keep people apart, but shortly after they arrived the bus burst, causing the fire to escalate quickly, making the bus fully involved in the flames,” the fire department said.
“The ruptures caused secondary damage affecting several nearby businesses, vehicles and concrete pavements where the bus was stopped,” the Shreveport Fire Department said in a statement.
Eighteen firefighters were required to control the flames, and no injuries were reported.
Local KTAL News reported that drivers and passengers from all buses had left safely.
“At this point, we know that there has been a lot of damage and damage to the streets where the bus is on, causing damage to the buildings on either side of the street. One of the Dallas Centers is an apartment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Neither the fire department nor the Sportran media contacts immediately responded to Fox News’ digital requests.
