‘Nothing’s a guarantee’ admits Lando Norris ahead of F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix

That was the case for Randnoris in Bahrain Granpurin a week ago, or half empty glass.

Meanwhile, Norris recovered from a difficult qualifying session and finished on the podium, finishing on the podium this season at Grand Prix. It’s a kind of recovery drive that keeps the driver’s championship contest.

Meanwhile, McLaren’s MCL39 was once again a dominant package last week – proven by Norris breaking through the timing sheet during practice and teammate Oscar Piastri took both pole position and victory, but Norris met in the third quarter. He had managed a strong recovery, but it could have been better if he hadn’t been punished for the false start of being outside the grid box before the lights went out. That’s why McLaren was forced to take him to the pit on the early side of his first stint and offer a penalty.

“Every time I did something good, I did two bad things.” Recognised Norris after the race.

Norris spoke with the Jeddah media ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this weekend and admitted that a “reset” is necessary after Bahrain.

“I needed a few days off and I needed a reset. I probably liked a few more days off, but I made the most of them,” Norris said. He spoke to the Saudi Arabian media.

“I think you’re still thinking about as much as you’re trying to get away with, and I was still thinking about the difficulties I’ve struggled with.”

In fact, Norris himself admitted that there are two aspects to the 2025 story. Yes, there were mistakes and areas where he could have done better. However, he entered the fifth race weekend of the season leading in the driver’s championship, winning the season opener and perhaps has the fastest car on the grid.

“I tried to force myself to see what success the season started.

“I have to remember that I lead the championship, won the first race and I’m on the podium in every race, so instead of reminding myself, I have to remember them.

“I want to achieve my potential. At this point, I have not achieved my potential. There is no reason to be satisfied with it.”

Regarding MCL39, Norris also admitted that he made some adjustments to his driving style, and that he “has to adapt” to McLaren’s 2025 Challenger.

“There are times when I try to learn and learn differently. I have a different approach to things to perform better,” said the McLaren driver. “I’m forced to drive in different ways and different ways that I’m not used to, and that’s completely unconventional for me. There’s no guarantee.”

Norris did not outline what is needed to improve, or where MCL39 needs to improve, but noted that the need to adapt eases the pressure in his mind.

“You can’t drive like last year. It’s weird to say it in the seventh season of Formula 1, as you know I’m good at,” Norris said.

“But I’m still learning things. The car definitely differs in how it is. I have to adapt a lot in an uncomfortable way, but I probably understand some of these reasons a little better, so I probably have less pressure.

“I think I’m more embracing the struggles and challenges I have in that moment.”

Piastri’s victory in Bahrain made him the first repeat winner of the 2025 season, piling the third-year driver into favorite status in the hearts of many observers.

Now we can see how Norris responds after spending his year as a favorite in the driver’s championship race.
