On Thursday night we were all blue jackets. I always remember Columbus, a team, organization and fanbase that helped to enhance the sport as a result of an unspeakable tragedy.
The Jackets may have lacked their quest to make the playoffs, but the franchise shed light on the power of the community in Columbus’ reaction to the deaths of their beloved Johnny and Matthew Gordlow.
Almost every team likes to call themselves family. If not most cases, it’s an f story. But inspired by Johnny’s widow Meredith Gaudreau and the whole family, the 2024-25 Blue Jacket represents the best family.
Credit organization. I praise President Don Waddell for the stewardship. Influenced by senior advisor John Davidson. Leadership of director Dean Evason. And the group’s comrades, nurtured by Johnny Gaudreau’s best friend, Sean Monaghan, came together rather than splitting.
