The offensive sea lions sent surfers this week after repeatedly kicking them out, then coming to the beach. Video of the incident showed.
Sea lions suffered from severe domain acids. This is caused by unprecedented toxic algae affecting the brains of animals, making them more aggressive and more aggressive, experts said. Fox 11 reported.
It has affected thousands of sea lions and other ocean lives in the area, killing more dolphins than the past few years and at least two whales.
“These domoic acid events are getting bigger, worse, and more frequent,” John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Care Center, told the station. “That’s scary. Can all of these species undergo this type of abuse and still be with us? That’s the question and I don’t know the answer to that.”
Apart from domo acids, toxic algae also cause saxitoxin to disease marine organisms and cause paralytic shellfish poisoning.
Saxitoxin can neglect animals, cause permanent brain damage and can cause aggression.
Sea lions were euthanized after being deemed irreparably ill.
If the toxin is caught early, some animals may improve, the station reported.
“They’re being thrown into them. Some of the worst things they can experience,” Warner added about the sick sea lions and other animals.
A pair of sea lions were caught on video charging at Beach Fans further south in La Jolla Beach in San Diego County last summer.
The incident came during the breeding season of mammals.
