Nearly 70 percent of CEOs disapprove of Trump's tariffs: Survey

A recent survey shows that large U.S. CEO executives share a lack of support for President Trump’s latest tariffs, and believe they will hurt the company.

Opinion polls conducted by chief executive officer The magazine found that 67 of those surveyed did not agree to the president’s tariff agenda, and 76% thought that drastic import taxes would hurt the company.

According to the outlet, the results show the lowest confidence in the business market since the start of the 2020 pandemic.

On the scale of 1 to 10, 1 stands for “poor” and 10 means “excellent”, with 5.0 to 300 participants in March ranking their current business environment at 4.6.

“The uncertainty of tariffs and the next step President Trump will take will lead to a very difficult economic situation in the next year or two,” Tim Zimmerman, president and CEO of Mitchell Metal Products, told the magazine.

“This uncertainty needs to cease,” added Donald H. Lloyd II, president and CEO of St. Clair Healthcare.

“I support tariffs, but I believe they need to be applied strategically, not globally,” he told the outlet.

The survey was conducted between April 8th and 10th with 329 US chief executives.
