What a disaster!
Twisted teens have revived the “Kool-Aid Man Challenge,” which wreaked havoc on Staten Island and elsewhere between 2021 and 2023, leading to several arrests.
The destructive Tiktok challenge requires teens to mimic the popular Kool-Aid commercials. There, a bright red drink pitcher mascot explodes walls and fences.
The task often requires participants to yell “Ah, yeah, yeah!”
Ben Helwa of Staten Island said he paid for costly repairs to his home around Ertingville after many cool kids broke his fence earlier this month. NBC New York reported.
“I didn’t think it was that interesting to find that there were huge costs to repair a fence,” he told the outlet.
Helva says teens can use flashlights to see on surveillance footage, and he began to suspect that he had filmed Sophomoric’s shenanigans.
The fence was atomized on Monday in Prince Bay on Staten Island, the outlet reported.
It was unclear whether the same group would be responsible.
In New York, causing property damage over $250 is considered a mischief for a third-degree felony crime.
In 2021 and 2023, incidents were reported in Centre Chich, Northport and Selden in the Westerly districts of Long Island and Staten Island.
NYPD did not reply to requests for comment.
