The New York company recalls some packaging of mushrooms due to the possibility of listeria contamination.
Harvest NYC Inc. issued a recall of Enoki Mushroom’s 200 gram package on Wednesday, announced by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). recall on friday.
According to an FDA notification, mushroom packaging is recalled as “as it can be contaminated with Listeria monocytogen and can cause organisms such as young children, frail or elderly people.”
The recalled mushrooms were distributed to retailers nationwide by Hofood99 Inc., the FDA said.
Comes in a green plastic packaging with Barcode 6975730520101 on the back label.
According to the FDA, the recall began after it was collected from a Buffalo, New York store, revealing the presence of Listeria monocytogen in some packages.
“While healthy people can suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriage and stillbirth in pregnant women,” the FDA notification states.
No illnesses have been reported, according to the FDA.
Anyone who purchased these mushroom packages between January 11th and 31st “is required to destroy the product immediately or return it to its purchase location for a full refund.”

Last month, New Age International Inc. recalled everything about its daily vegetable brand Enoki mushrooms due to listeria concerns, according to the FDA.
Enoki mushrooms are commonly used in Asian cuisine.
According to Healthline, they are extremely nutritious and pack each serving with fiber, antioxidants and B vitamins.
