Trump’s border border Tom Homan said on Sunday on ABC’s “this week” that Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) traveled to El Salvador on a “taxpayer dime” to meet Kilmer Abrego Garcia.

Jonathan Carle: Senator Van Hollen clearly had the opportunity to meet him, but he had to travel to El Salvador to get information. Does it have anything to do with you? So these were people, in his case, sent from the United States, and even the US senators could not obtain information about his whereabouts and his state of imprisonment in his case without actually having to go down and travel to El Salvador?
Homan: Well, he went to see him and obviously knew where he was. But what bothers me more than that is, it’s that US senators travel to El Salvador on taxpayer dimes and meet with MS-13 gang members, public security threats, terrorists. In the meantime, the day before he traveled, an illegal foreigner was arrested for murder and released on the streets rather than honoring the ice detainees of his own state. What I’m worried about is that Van Hollen has never been to the border in the last four years under Joe Biden when sex trafficking of women and children increased by 600%. You have a record number of terrorists who have been tested known across that border. You have 150,000 Americans killed by fentanyl overdose due to the open boundaries. More than 4,000 illegal aliens have died and travelled, making it a historic record. What shocks me is that he remains silent about the tragedy that took place at the southern border. Many people have died, and thousands have died. I met hundreds of angel moms and dads who buried children killed by illegal aliens. How many angel moms and dads did he meet in Maryland? That’s what concerns me.
Carl: He says that the matter here is just a legitimate procedure and he did this because he follows the orders of the court. That – you know, the Supreme Court says the administration needs to promote his return so that he can pass through.
Homan: I think, and I understand that I promote – but because he is also in custody and he is a citizen and a national of the country, El Salvador certainly will have to cooperate in it. But again, I’m off the loop about it. I am not a lawyer. I have not litigated this case. The law does whatever we say we have to do. What I think – I think I did the right thing here. We have removed public safety threats, national security threats, violent gang members from the United States. Ice Intelligence says he is a member of the MS-13 gang. Confidential information says he is a member of the MS-13 gang. The country of El Salvador says he is a member of the MS-13 gang. I think he’s exactly where he should be.
