Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday that Gavin Newsom (D-CA) doesn’t deserve to lead if he can’t stand up to the rights of a legitimate process than the case of Kilmer Abrego Garcia.
“Let’s hear about the reaction from within the Democrats, but some say that Democrats aren’t the issue Democrats should focus on. He insists that Democrats are in the hands of President Trump and that he wants to focus on.
Van Hollen said, “I don’t think it’s wrong to stand up to the Constitution. And this is not about a single man. If you deny one man’s constitutional rights, you threaten the constitutional rights of everyone.”
A Democrat from Maryland said, “I think all Americans are tired of the wind-fingered officials and politicians. Anyone who can’t stand up to the constitution and the right to justice of proceedings is not worth the lead.”
