Justin Thomas wins RBC Heritage in playoff during 250th career start

Justin Thomas won the RBC legacy on Sunday, and what a victory.

Thomas finished the 72nd hole in the tournament -17. Andrew Novak saw his first career victory on tour and had a putt to 18 with a chance to pair him up behind him and win it. Unfortunately for Novak he missed and the duo went to the playoffs.

JT was able to sink a birdie putt into the first playoff hole, and in the process he regained his first victory as a husband and father.

START is marked No. 250 of JT’s previous career, and is insane in itself and insane in itself. That’s true, but it was also the 59th start since Thomas won the 2022 PGA Championship.

By securing the victory, Thomas became the first player to successfully win an opening 18-hole lead this season. He didn’t lead the wire to the wire, but JT led after both the first and second rounds of play.

Although there is nothing to compare with Augusta, the RBC brought serious fun and intrigue throughout the weekend. This was, after all, the design of the signature event for the PGA Tour.

Next up on the schedule is the Zurich Classic in New Orleans, with Rory McIlroy and Shane Laurie going to defend the title when speaking of the Masters.
