Breaking down all the 2025 Boston Marathon winners

The 2025 Boston Marathon began at 9:06am ET, with the first winner crossing the finish line at Boylestone Street near Copley Square. Swiss wheelchair racer Marcel Hagg was the first person to finish when he won the eighth Boston Marathon title. He finished the race at 1:21:34.

This victory marked his third straight victory, bringing him a little closer to Ernst van Dyk’s record 10 titles. He finished a few minutes after the start of Runner’s Wave 2. Waves 3 and 4 had not started the race as the hug crossed the finish line.

The first American was also the second athlete of the day to cross the finish line. Daniel Romanchuk finished second in the hour of 1:25:58. This marked his third consecutive runner-up in the back of the hug. Romanchuk won the men’s wheelchair category in 2022 and 2019.

The first woman to cross the finish line was Susanna Scaroni from America. She claimed her second victory in three years, winning the women’s wheelchair race at 1:35:20. Swiss athletes Katherine DeBranagh and Manuela Schah concluded the podium in the women’s wheelchair category.

Dominican racer Alfredo DeRossantos was the first hand cyclist to complete the race, winning the division at 1:07:35. Americans Zachary Stinson and Casey Faulkner claimed two other podium spots.

Kenya racer John Korill was the first professional man to cross the finish line. He claimed his first Boston Marathon title at 2:04:45. Alphonce Simbu and Cybrian Kotut joined the podium, and Conner Mantz was the best finisher of any American runner.
