New York Liberty announced on Monday that two training camp signatories, Raquel Carrera and Sheehia Arirad, will compete in 2025 for personal decisions.
Raquel Currera is a Spanish power forward currently playing for Spain’s Liga Femenina’s Valencia basketball. She was drafted by the Atlanta Dream in 2021 on her 15th pick. Liberty has eight players who have been signed since last season. Nyara Sabbary, Jaylin Sherrod, Leonie Fevich, Sabrina Ionescu, Breana Stewart, Kennedy Burke, Caitlin Davis, Marchesha Davis, and Betniya Lanny Hamilton.
This winter they acquired Natasha Cloud through trade and signed Isabel Harrison and Marine Johannes. Johannes last played for Liberty in 2023, but sat in the 2024 season and played with the French national team.
Esmery Martinez and Rebekah Gardner will also compete in roster spots at training camp. French Centre Ajkakane was selected as the 38th overall pick in the 2025 draft, but will be staying abroad for the next few years.

Of the 14 players they are signed, 12 will create the final roster for Liberty.
One thing that may work is Laney-Hamilton’s health. The veteran forward is expected to miss most, if not all, of the season with a Meniscus injury that suffered in the offseason.
