Gov. Kathy Hochul’s favorability sees reprieve — while Schumer’s nosedives and AOC’s soars: poll

Albany – Governor Kathy Hochul has something to celebrate. The poll suggests that New Yorkers like her are not actually like that, but the same cannot be said about longtime Senator Chuck Schumer.

According to a newly released Siena College poll conducted last week, 44% of New Yorkers rated Hochul favorably, compared to 43%.

“For the first time since January 2024, Hochul has confirmed a positive review,” Siena Poll spokesman Steve Greenberg wrote in a statement.

The governor said her favor rose 4% from 40% in March, and her unfavorable decline rose 7% from 50% in the same month.

Despite the silver lining, Hochul’s vote remains generally disastrous. Just 39% of voters said they would vote for “someone else” if today’s election took place, including just 51% of Democrats. Polls showed that 48% prefer someone else.

Only 41% of those voted to show that New York is on the “right track” while it is heading “the wrong direction.” Only 51% of Democrats said the state was on the right track.

Hochul traded poll numbers for regular corrupters with fellow Democrats of Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who recorded his lowest favors in 20 years.

The Liberals seem to have turned their backs on Senate minority leaders after falling into a Republican budget resolution last month and pushing the vote forward.

“For the first time in the University of Siena poll: Schumer is 10 points underwater, with multiple voters looking at him at a disadvantage,” Greenberg said.

Schumer was rated 39% as favorable, with 49% at a disadvantage.

“He continues to be disadvantaged by more than two-thirds of Republicans and the majority of independents, but Schumer has seen his position as Democrats, particularly the liberals,” added Greenberg.

While Schumer saw the Dip, the progressive MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) saw the opposition. Democrat Socialist Pol was rated 47% in polls as a favorable and 33% disadvantage, with 64% favor among Democrats.

“Schumer’s fifth term will last until 2028, but Ocasio-Cortez has established himself as a New York Democrat,” Greenberg said.
