On April 10, House Republicans narrowly passed a budget resolution aimed at tax cuts, border security and military spending to promote President Trump’s agenda. Hardline conservatives led by members like House Freedom Caucus MP Nancy Mace (Rs.C.) have called for deep cuts from Medicaid to curb the bloated eligibility.
However, it didn’t land much with Linos. On April 16, 12 GOP Moderates wrote to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) threatening to fight an upcoming settlement bill if Medicaid was cut.
With the GOP split again, conservatives now support the High Stakes showdown as the committee goes to war over the details of the bill.
“Is the house actually trying to eat itself alive or is this the way things are done in DC?” asks Jill Savage, host of “Blaze News Tonight.”

“It’s kind of a thing,” says Christopher Bedford, senior political editor at Blaze News and Washington correspondent.
“The way things are done is by eating with a lot of circular shooting squads and their own meals, but at the end of the day, different lawmakers come from districts with different voter backgrounds and different needs, and some of those lawmakers are unable to become chiproys on these types of issues,” he explains.
The opposite letter, he thinks, was “more like a warning shot than ‘We won’t work with you’.”
“Generally speaking, there are no greater wimps than moderate Republicans. … At the end of the day, they draw power from their intimacy with Republican leaders.
Prime Minister Matthew Peterson’s Flame News Editor raises important questions. How does GOP promise to protect or improve Medicaid in light of the massive reduction targets of Trump and Johnson’s previous previous budget solutions?
“That’s vague,” Bedford says. “President Trump says it won’t be moving. You have a conservative fiscal hawk who says it absolutely needs to be touched. And you have Mike Johnson who says yes to everyone in town.”
“It’s still all closed door negotiations,” but I hope GOP leaders can at least work towards Medicaid goals. Not anyone You need to disagree: Target Medicaid fraud, abuse, and inefficiency.
