Over the weekend, Donald Trump reached out to Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D).
Shapiro was targeted in an arson incident at the governor’s mansion last week.
Shapiro expressed gratitude, stating, “The president called me and I appreciate Trump’s graciousness.”
Democrat Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s Governor, reported on Tuesday that President Donald Trump reached out over the weekend regarding the arson at the governor’s mansion from a week prior.
…
“I’m thankful that the president reached out,” Shapiro told journalists during the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Governor’s residence in Harrisburg. “I didn’t actually reach out to him, so the call came from his cell and I didn’t recognize the number. As soon as I listened to his message, I called him back immediately.”
…
“He was quite gracious,” Shapiro remarked. “He inquired about Lori and the children. [We] conversed for a few minutes about the situation at the residence, then we went on to discuss other subjects for about the next 15 minutes or so.”
“Naturally, I won’t disclose any private aspects of our discussions, but he is aware of issues that are significant to me,” the governor continued. “I understand the matters that are important to him, and we agreed to continue our communication moving forward.”
Cody Ballmer, 38, has been taken into custody for the attack.
He allegedly informed authorities that he would have assaulted Shapiro with a hammer if he had confronted the governor inside the mansion.
Pennsylvania State Police disclosed a 911 call made over the weekend, reportedly by a suspected arsonist accused of setting fire to Governor Josh Shapiro’s mansion.
Legal documents indicate that the suspect in the incident – 38-year-old Cody Bermer – reportedly turned himself in and confessed to police that he would have attacked Shapiro with a hammer if the governor had been inside the residence during the incident.
In a disjointed message acquired by Action News on Friday, Balmer admitted full responsibility for his concerning actions and explained to the 911 operator what he had done.
