Private equity firm is expanding to allow investments into US-based oil and gas

The Texas-based private equity firm is expanding various ways investors can leverage US-based energy projects.

This month, the American Energy Fund announced it has expanded its asset support investment offering for domestic oil and gas projects.

The company said the new option will provide certified investors with the ability to invest in traditionally exclusive energy sector projects. According to AEF, projects involved in the company’s initiative include a joint venture in the Permian Basin and a North Texas drilling program.

“Continued volatility in traditional markets has led to more investors revisiting energy as a viable asset class,” a company spokesperson said. “Our focus is to provide consistent performance, operational visibility and regulatory compliance across all investment opportunities.”

The company’s offerings are not available to the public and are limited to what is known as “certified investors.” They are not casual investors, but rather investors with deeper pockets.

As financial industry regulators define “certified investors” as individuals or businesses that meet certain thresholds, they have the financial resources to be considered sophisticated investors who can assess investment opportunities that are not normally available to the general public.

The Securities and Exchange Commission defines accredited investors as those who meet either designated wealth, income, or financial refinement standards.
