Ryan Fitzpatrick urges Zach Wilson to reconsider jersey decision

Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn’t think the latest move made by Dolphins quarterback Zach Wilson will bring him any benefit.

Shortly after the Dolphins released New Jersey figures on Wednesday, the new signed Wilson chose to wear No. 0 for the 2025 season, so the former Miami quarterback offered some choice words about his previous first-round pick decision to embark on a new chapter in his rocky NFL career.

“Hey Zack There’s always time to change your mind… I know you’re friends with Braxton Bellios and worked at Orlando Woolridge, but if you’re building your career and trying to get it back seriously (I’m sure you’re sure…” Posted by Fitzpatrick Wednesday at X

The “Thursday Night Football” analyst, who ranked 14th throughout his NFL career, including two seasons of stints at South Beach through 2019-20, expanded his warning to Wilson in a follow-up post.

“It may be ridiculous, but awareness is important in this business, and QBs trying to revive #0 trying to revive his career won’t scream serious QBs,” said 42-year-old Fitzpatrick. Responded to X user.

Wide receiver and former Wilson teammate Belios was wearing zero in two seasons with Dolphins.

He has signed with the Texans for the free agency after spending the past two years in Miami.

With the transition to dolphins, 25-year-old Wilson will be in his third team two years later.

He was traded to the Broncos last April and ended his three-year tenure roller coaster in New York before signing a one-year, $6 million contract in March.

Wilson, who wore the Jets and Broncos and 2 and 4 respectively, is about to reinvigorate his career as a backup for starter Tua Tagovailoa.

The numbers tied to Wilson aren’t exactly stellar, but he threw 23 touchdowns on 23 interceptions and posted a career record of 13-21, but the Miami Brass is keen to see what his former Jets rivals can do in their new environment.

“Zack won a few games,” Dolphins general manager Chris Greer said earlier this month. “Everyone knows what he says, what he does, but for us we deal with it, know him, he signs, he gets to know him, he goes through it, people are going back to their relationship with him before the draft when he comes out.

Dolphins ended 8-9 last season and missed the playoffs.

Tagovailoa was sidelined at various points due to a concussion and hip injury, with backup Skyler Thompson and Tyler Huntley nodging at his place and struggling nods.
