Alija Arena, a five-star men’s basketball prospect and commits to the USC Trojan horse, is in a coma induced following a car accident on Thursday morning in the Los Angeles area, sources told ESPN.

A Los Angeles Fire Station (LAFD) spokesperson told ESPN that authorities received a call after a Tesla Cybertruck collided with both the fire hydrant and the wood at 4:55am. The person who crashed was not identified by LAFD, but said the 18-year-old was taken from the vehicle and sent to a local hospital.

The four-letter network source confirmed that it was the arena that was falling into the crash, and told ESPN that initial tests revealed that the bones were not broken.
Alija, the son of the NBA legendary Gilbert Arenas, was reclassified in December and ranked as the 13th general meeting in the 2025 class after committing to USC in January.
