The 32-year-old is fighting for his life after being thrust into his Infinity Q50 along Bronx Avenue on Thursday as he attempted to stop the theft of a brave broaddaylight car.
The exact victim picked up Chinese food by double-parking on Westchester Avenue in Pelham Bay around noon, according to footage obtained from law enforcement sources and posts.
A car thief emerges from the back seat of the SUV and jumps straight away to the driver’s side of the Infinity, and the victim runs off the sidewalk and tries to save the car.
The man grabbed the driver’s side window and tried to run with the car, so he dragged it across the street, the video shows.
Officials found the victim severely injured after trauma to his head and foot a block away on Wilkinson Avenue, the NYPD said.
While he remains in danger at Jacobian Hospital, the perp remains loose, authorities said.
The Infinity was later abandoned and recovered at the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway. Police and photos showed extensive damage to the driver’s side.
The violent car robbery comes just after NYPD’s Jessica Tish, who called the New York City Bronx “the absolute best place” this month, calling it the Bronx “the absolute best place” and is called the NYPD’s “the absolute best place” to steal cars when Rose District Attorney Darcel Clark accused her of a soft criminal approach.
Car thefts of cars fell 12% in the city during the first three months of 2025, but the Bronx saw a 3.6% rise in stolen vehicles, Tish said on April 15.
The District Attorney’s Office defended the prosecution’s decision at the time, saying “there is a difference between what police charges at the time of an arrest and what we can prove in court.”
