The historic home run knack behind Mets rotation’s elite start

Miguel Andouger jumped on the Griffin Canning changeup to crush a line drive that barely cleared the left field fence at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California on April 11th.

It’s worth noting that Homer, an infielder in the night’s sixth innings, was the last to surrender by the Mets’ starting pitcher. The rotational homeless wins lasted 12 games, of which the Mets won nine.

The Mets’ 18-7 start this season brought many surprises. Perhaps nothing was greater than the performance from the start rotation, which was the question mark when spring training began. By the end of camp, these uncertainties were even more pronounced with the injuries to Frankie Montas and Sean Mania, who prevented the team from pitching by early June.

But with Canning, Clay Holmes, Tylor Megill, Kodai Senga and David Peterson, the Mets found a viable mix. It starts with keeping the ball in the park. This is where Mets ranked first in MLB and ranked at 2.33 ERA by starting rotation. The Tigers were the distant second as their play began at 3.09 on Thursday.
