President Donald Trump has not “trolled” in his efforts to acquire Greenland and turn Canada into a 51st state.
Trump has been debating for months about getting Greenland, Canada and Panama. And despite skepticism from some, he regularly calls Canada the 51st state in the United States, Trump said in an interview with Time Magazine released Friday that he was serious about these proposals.
When asked by Time’s Eric Cortellesssa if Trump was “trolling a bit,” suggesting Canada would join the US, Trump replied, “In fact, I’m not.”

Corteressa then asked if Trump intended to “raising an American empire,” urging him to double the importance of Trump gaining these important territory.
“Well, it depends on as an empire, it wasn’t, these are not what we had before, so if we had the right opportunity, we’re looking at it a little differently,” Trump said. “Yeah, I think Greenland will do very well if you think it’s important to us, even for national security and international security.”
Trump is also for the US to “lose” the money to support Canada, and the only solution on the table is for it to become a nation.
“We’re looking after their troops,” Trump said. “We take care of every aspect of their life and don’t need them to build cars for us. In fact, we don’t want them to build cars. We want to build our own cars. We don’t need their wood. We don’t need their energy. We don’t need anything from Canada.
Trump remains optimistic about the odds to win Greenland: “I think that’s going to happen.”

Time Peace has been published by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to reporters, who claimed that Trump is routinely debating Canada’s nation and that Trump is “always” raising it. Kearney previously closed the notion that Canada will become a US state.
Meanwhile, Trump emphasizes that Greenland is key to national security purposes. Danish territory has said it is seeking independence from Copenhagen and is likely to join the United States, but Trump has expressed a strong desire to secure Greenland amid increasing the presence of Russia and China in the Arctic Circle.

“If you look at Greenland now, you look at the waterways, there are Chinese and Russian ships all over the place and you can’t do that,” Trump told reporters in March. “We don’t rely on anyone to take care of Denmark or any of those situations. And we’re not talking about peace in the US, we’re talking about world peace, we’re talking about international security.”
