Micah Parsons clarifies response to Cowboys’ pick after initial reaction

Clean up passage 11.

Mika Parsons’ immediate response to the cowboy who took Alabama guard Tyler Booker with him on the 12th overall pick on Thursday night in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft was Tepid.

Parsons, who was in the Bleacher Report stream, came out when the pick was announced and immediately began shrugging before resetting, realizing that the optics weren’t ideal.

He made it clear that he responded that way as he wanted the Cowboys to draft the defensive players.

“Wait, wait. I’m excited about this pick,” Parsons said in the stream. “This guy is a beast. He is a beast. And I look at him and Tyler Smith and Zach Martin leaves and beware and alert. This is one of their choices. In other words, he is a beast. He is a beast.

“I just wanted to see it on my side of the ball. But this guy is a beast. I’m not mad at the pick.

The Cowboys had the needs of running backs, but wide receivers and cornerbacks replaced future Hall of Famer Martin, who retired this offseason, but looked like a motive to bring Booker along.

“Our results are very similar to what we had with Zack,” the Cowboys vice president of the player rep, Wil McClei, told reporters on Thursday in the team’s post-draft press. “And there are a lot of very similarities of some of the character traits. He’s his own individual, but he’s a grown man like Zack. So you have someone out there that makes us a stronger, more physical team.”

The 6-foot-5, 321-pound Booker will play a left guard in Alabama and will likely need to switch to the right side of the NFL.

“I’m just going to get to work,” Booker told reporters. “Even if you put me on the football field, I’m ready to chase it. I’m ready to go. It doesn’t matter if I’m on the left guard, right guard, right tackle, center, slot receiver, running back.
