One massive change set Armand Membou on his journey to the Jets

Aaron Glenn described Armand Membou as the type of player who is about to add to the Jets.

“He’s mean, he’s nasty, he’s tough,” Glenn said Thursday night after the Jets took the member on the seventh overall pick.

You’d never know it would talk to menbo from the field. Menbo arrived at Flowham Park on Friday and was polite and sincere, with none of the kind of guy Jets fans see on the field with a right tackle.

“When you get to that field, you just turn the switch over,” Memo said. “I don’t have any friends, so please chase after everyone.”

We are early in Glenn’s tenure with the Jets and are learning exactly what our new coach is looking for. If his first draft choice is any indication, he wants some nasty stuff from his players.

“It was easy because we’re trying to do in the offense, he’s really suited to what we’re trying to do,” Glenn said. “I mean, if the pick was there for us, it was a guy.”

The members came to soccer late. He started playing in the eighth grade, but was on the skinny side. He also wrestled tennis, soccer, basketball.

Early in high school, he couldn’t do that with the varsity team. Then in 2020, during the pandemic, Membo went to tackle his body.

He began to exercise more, start eating, and when he showed up to soccer practice that summer, he went from 220 pounds to about 250. He also shot from 6 feet 6-3.

“I feel like God, he gave me like a new update or something,” Menbou said.

He became the dominant high school football player at Lee Summit North in Missouri and was soon hired to play in Missouri. He became the starter of the Tigers’ right tackle midway through his freshman season, making his NFL dreams realistic.

“After the freshman year I first got to the field, I knew that was a real possibility,” the members said.

Membou will be Missouri right tackle fixtures throughout his sophomore and junior season. Many NFL teams left school early and didn’t see Membou as a rock to enter this year’s draft. However, Menbou began to believe he was ready for the NFL as his third year progressed.

“For me, by the end of the season, it was really easy because I was playing really well,” Menbo said. “And mentally, I feel confident that I know I’m going to be fine.”

Membou was not on the radar of all NFL teams as the scouting community was behind him as an early entry player.

“Yeah, after the season, I was listening like a sophomore third year, and we were debating whether we should come back,” Membou said.

Membou then put on the display with the NFL Scouting Combine, which includes a 4.91 40-yard dash. This is a spectacular time for a 6-4, 332 pound player. Suddenly, Menbo was debated as the best offensive lineman in this draft, with the potential for a top 10 pick.

“After seeing the athleticism I showed at the combine, they probably saw the film the second time and it was like, ‘He’s like that exercise’,” Menbou said.

The Jets are looking at Membou with plug-and-play right tackle that can complete a powerful offensive line. Membou can bring his troublesome streak to the Jets as well as bringing his physical skills.

“I just say I’m very explosive,” Menbo said of his strengths. “I’m creating a lot of good moves in the run game. I’m very consistent with Pass Pro. I’m not going to say anything about my weaknesses right now. Once I get here, I’m trying to improve the entire game.”
