The mischievous caller of Shedeur Sanders appears to have revealed himself.
After a video of the end of a cruel joke that informs Sanders that he was drafted by the Saints appeared on Friday, the other side called the following day appears to have been posted.
What appears to be a small number of Ole Miss students causes mischief, calls out Sanders and impersonates Mickey Loomis, the general manager of the saints.
When it appears to be reading from a script, the caller identifies himself as Loomis.
“It’s been a long wait,” he says. “We’ll take you here with the next pick, man.”
After Sanders appears to have responded, the caller says, “But you’ll have to wait a little longer, man. Sorry.” The video then shows him hanging, and the room bumping into laughter.
“He bought it!” shouts one of the children in the room.
The video is unconfirmed, but fits the video at the end of Sanders’ call, showing the same dialogue.
“What does that mean?” Sanders asks after the phone hangs up before realizing it’s a fake.
Sanders’ two-day slides finally ended on Saturday afternoon when the Browns traded up on the 144th overall pick to sign up for the Colorado quarterback in the fifth round.
That would be a certain amount of reprieve at least after a very embarrassing 48 hours for Sanders.
“Thank you,” Sanders posted to X after his name was finally called.
He also celebrated the selection by dancing with his brother Shiro and playing cannonballs in the family pool.
Sanders is the second quarterback the Browns have taken in this draft after Dillon Gabriel.
