The suspect, accused of stealing Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem’s Gucci handbag, was arrested Saturday in Washington, D.C., with a Gucci handbag containing $3,000 in cash and other personal belongings.
The Metropolitan Police Department and the US Secret Service have caught the suspect. New York Post It has been reported. Authorities are still searching for a second suspect in connection with the incident.
Both are in the US without permission, and US immigration and customs in the US are currently involved in the lawsuit, a US lawyer for the District of Columbia said. NBC 4. Martin said there were no indications that NOEM targeted her role in DHS.
The suspect in custody is scheduled to appear in court earlier this week, according to the New York Post.

The Secret Service declined to confirm reports that the suspect was arrested on Saturday.
“For the safety of our agents and officers, we are not currently in a position to confirm or comment,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Grielmi wrote to X:

According to a complaint filed with local police, the bag was on the floor of her table when it was stolen.
Security footage filmed a white man in an N95 surgical mask, dark pants, a baseball cap and a baseball cap grabbing a bag before leaving the restaurant.
The suspect glanced around the restaurant, then snatched his bag, covered him with a jacket and ran out of facility, a source who saw the footage told the New York Post.
“In fact, it was sort of a shock because it was sitting by my feet. I actually felt my wallet and he hooked it with his legs, took it a few steps away and made it a drug, then dropped the coat on top of it and took it,” Noem told podcaster Vince Korean on “Vince Show.”

“I felt that, but I thought my grandson was kicking me in the foot. But it was done very professionally and this always happens to people and they live in a community where this is dangerous and I reaffirm why I am here,” she added. “My job is to make my community safer each day. President Trump recognizes that his family doesn’t have to live with any kind of violence in his life.”
Just a few days before Noem’s bag was stolen, another woman eating with her family at a nearby restaurant grabbed her wallet in a similar incident.
