Vancouver driver plows into crowd of people attending Filipino festival, killing multiple victims

Local authorities said the driver drove into the crowd at the Philippine Festival in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday night, killing several victims and others injured.

The incident happened shortly after 8pm at the Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party, the Vancouver Police Department said in a social media post.

“At just 8pm tonight, many people were killed and several others were injured after drivers ran into the crowd at the street festival in E. 41st Avenue and Fraser,” police said.

The exact number of deaths or injuries was not immediately known.

The driver was taken into custody, police said. At this time, the motives of the person driving in the crowd are unknown.
