Comedian and actress Wanda Sykes said white people were embarrassed in the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's second term.
Sykes made a comment, but host Stephen Colbert asked her what he thought of the traffic light fiasco under defence secretary Pete Hegses, before a guest on the “Late Show” asked her. She previously worked as a procurement specialist for the National Security Agency.
“You don't have a business on the signal! The signal is for loot call! That's it! That's it!'
“I have to say, white people, you should be embarrassed by this. You should be really. You really need to do something, seriously.” This is embarrassing,” Sykes said.
“I know what you say, 'Well, Wanda, why white?” We tried to tell y'all and y'all didn't want to hear, so this is your problem,” she added.
“Black people are busy,” Sykes chuckles from the audience. “We're doing other things now. Everyone has to do it.”
Sykes also praised some of the protests against Trump, but added that they need to do more.
“And I'm very proud of you. I see you protest, so keep doing a good job. But now you need to increase it.
“Black, we're behind you, and not,” she joked. “We're not going to be behind you. What do you know? We like your posts, that's what we do.”
Sykes called the administration “embarrassing, incompetent, corrupt.” She used the signal to discuss Houthi's war plans against terrorists and referred to past employment in the government to criticize Hegseth for the debate against defense authorities.
“You don't have a business on the traffic light!” she added. “The signal is for the booty call! That's it! That's it!”
