Golf great Phil Mickelson was attacked on Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday, calling him a “traitor” against election reforms proposed in the Save Act.
Protecting American voters' qualifications (keep) The law requires evidence of a US citizenship voting, and also requires states to remove non-citizens from voter roles.
Mickelson accused Schumer of leading opposition to the bill the New York Democrats called the “antithesis of democracy.” Fox News It has been reported.
“Donald Trump and the Republicans have our elections in the vice district: executive orders from the president and, on the other hand, dangerous laws from Congress,” Schumer said in a speech on the bill on Wednesday. “They understand the sanctity of elections and keep them fair. The kind of law, the kind of very yellowish orders, are like orders that lean towards one party's side, and are antithesis of democracy.”
Schumer also called the bill “dangerous” and “reminiscent of Jim Crow.”
But Mickelson discovers that Schumer's rhetoric is outrageous, not American.
“How is this fighting for Americans? Is it good to have non-citizen votes in American elections? That's not,” Mickelson wrote on his social media. “He is not representing America, nor its citizens in their best interests. He is a traitor.”
In a follow-up post, Mickelson added:
The Save Act passed the House of Representatives last month and is currently voting in the US Senate.
