Saks Fifth Avenue will launch its storefront on Amazon, selling Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain's high-end designer products in the e-commerce giant's latest foray into luxury sales, the company said Tuesday.
Amazon has been an investor in the parent company of Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Global's Saks Fifth Avenue since December, when Saks Global bought Neiman Marcus for $2.65 billion.
The e-commerce giant created a designated section in 2020 for selling premium apparel and beauty products known as Amazon Luxury. AmazonLuxury currently sells products from Oscar de la Renta and sells second-hand bags from LVMH's Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior.
Jenny Freshwater, Amazon's Vice President of Fashion and Fitness, said the new Saks Fifth Avenue Amazon section will be a “in-store store” that lives in Amazon Luxury.
Saks Fifth Avenue has third-party stores. This means luxury retailers control their own products and fulfillment, the company said.
“We are truly thrilled to take this opportunity to have access to clients who shop on Amazon who are eligible for luxury,” said Emily Essner, president and chief commercial officer of Saks Global. She added that the partnership will also help Saks Global understand customer engagement.
